Tuesday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time (II)

Official Translation

Reading 1 – Revelation 14.14-19

I, John, looked, and behold, a white cloud,
and on the cloud, there was one sitting like a son of human,
having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
Another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud,
“Send your sickle, and harvest, for the hour to harvest has come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe!”
He who sat on the cloud thrust his sickle on the earth, and the earth was harvested.

Another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle.
Another angel came out from the altar. He had power over fire.
He called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying,
“Send your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth,
for the earth’s grapes are fully ripe!”
The angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth,
and threw it into the great wine press of the wrath of God.

Responsorial – Psalm 96.10, 11-12, 13 Resp. 13b

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
The world is also established. It cannot be moved.
He will judge the people with equity.

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice.
Let the sea roar, and its fullness!
Let the field and all that is in it exult!
Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

They will rejoice before the Lord; for he comes,
for he comes to rule the earth.
He will rule the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Gospel – Luke 21.5-11

Some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with costly stones and gifts,
so Jesus said,“These things which you behold,
the days are coming when there will not be a stone left on a stone, which will not be thrown down.”

They asked him, saying, “Master, when will this be?
What sign is planned for when these things shall come to pass?”

And he said, “Take heed not to be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am, and the time draws near.’
Do not follow them.
And when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be afraid,
for these things must first come to pass, but it is not immediately the end.”
Then said he to them, “Race shall rise against race, and kingdom against kingdom,
and there will be great earthquakes from place to place, and famines and epidemics;
and there will be horrors and great signs from heaven.”

Reading 1 – Revelation 14.1-3, 4b-5

I, John, saw, and beheld the Lamb standing on Mount Zion,
and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand,
having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.
I heard a sound from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of a great thunder.
The sound which I heard was like that of harpists playing on their harps.
They sing a new hymn before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders.
No one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four thousand,
those who had been redeemed from the earth.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes.
These were redeemed by Jesus from among humans, the first fruits to God and to the Lamb.
In their mouth was found no lie, for they are blameless.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

The Lord’s is the earth and its fullness,
the world and its inhabitants.
For he founded it upon the seas;
and upon the rivers made it firm.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

Who shall ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who shall stand in his holy place?
He who, with innocent hands and a clean of heart,
has not lifted up his soul to useless things.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord,
and righteousness from God his Savior.
This is the nature of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

Gospel – Luke 21.1-4

And looking on, Jesus saw the rich putting their offerings into the treasury,
and he saw one poor widow putting two pennies in there.
So he said, “Truly I say to you, that the widow-beggar has put in more than all these.
For all these have put in an offering from their abundance
but she, from her lack, has put in all which she had for living.”
