“Behold, my servant, whom I uphold;

You know the things that have happened throughout all of Judea beginning from Galilee,
after the baptism which John preached:
Jesus from Nazareth, him who God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power,
who went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying.
The sky was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him,

For the yoke of their burden,
and the staff on their shoulder,
the rod of their oppressor,
you have broken as in the day of Midian.
For all the armor of the armed man
clanging in battle,
and the garments rolled in blood,
will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born. To us a son is given;
and the dominion will be on his shoulders.
His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his dominion and of peace
there shall be no end,
on the throne of David and for his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from that time on, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this!

and laid him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field,
and keeping watch by night over their flock.

The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid,

Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober minded;

in your teaching showing integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility,
and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned,
so that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having nothing evil thing to say about us.
