Feast of Saint Thomas, Apostle

Official Translation

Reading 1 – Ephesians 2.19-22

Brothers and sisters:
You are no longer strangers and foreigners,
but you are fellow citizens with the saints,
and members of the household of God,
being built on the foundation
of the Apostles and prophets,
Christ Jesus himself being the capstone;
in whom the whole building, fitted together,
grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
in him you also are built together
for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

Responsorial – Psalm 117.1bc, 2 Resp. Mark 16.15

R. Go to all the world and preach the Gospel.

Praise the Lord, all you nations!
Extol him, all you peoples!

R. Go to all the world and preach the Gospel.

For his loving kindness is great toward us.
The Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.

R. Go to all the world and preach the Gospel.

Gospel – John 20.24-29

But Thomas, one of the Twelve,
called Didymus,
was not with them when Jesus came.
So the other disciples said to him,
“We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them,
“Unless I see in his hands
the mark of the nails,
and put my finger into
the mark of the nails
and put my hand into his side,
I will not believe.”

After eight days his disciples were again inside,
and Thomas was with them.
Jesus came, though the doors were locked,
and stood in the middle, and said,
“Peace be with you.”
Then he said to Thomas,
“Bring here your finger,
and see my hands.
Bring here your hand,
and put it into my side.
Do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him,
“Because you have seen me, you have believed.
Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed.”
