Feast of Saint Andrew, Apostle

Official Translation

Reading 1 – Romans 10.9-18

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord,
and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead,
you shall be saved.

For with the heart, one believes unto justification,
and with the lips, one confesses unto salvation.
For the scripture says,
“Whoever believes in him shall not be ashamed.”
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek,
for the same Lord is Lord of all, with riches for all who call upon him.
For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear unless it is preached?
And how shall they preach unless they were sent?
As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good gospel,
But they have not all obeyed the gospel.
For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
But I say, “Have they not heard?”
Amen, their voice went to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

Responsorial - Psalm 19.8, 9, 10, 11 Resp. 10 or John 6.63

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, completely just. or R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is trustworthy,
making the simple wise.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, completely just. or R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The command of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, completely just. or R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

The fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true,
completely just.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, completely just. or R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

They are more desirable than gold,
than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey,
honey from the comb.

R. The judgments of the Lord are true, completely just. or R. Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.

Gospel – Matthew 4.18-22

Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee,
saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother,
casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
They immediately left their nets, and followed him.
Continuing on from there, he saw two more brothers,
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,
in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
They immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.

Reading 1 - Revelation 18.1-2, 21-23; 19:1-3, 9a

I, John, saw another angel coming down out of heaven, having great authority.
The earth was illuminated with his glory.
He cried with a mighty voice, saying,
“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons,
a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!.”

A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying,
“Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and never be found again.
The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will never be heard again in you.
No craftsman, of whatever craft, will ever be found again in you.
The sound of a mill will never be heard again in you.
The light of a lamp will never shine again in you.
The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will never be heard again in you.
For your merchants were the princes of the earth,
and with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.”

After these things I heard something like
a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“Hallelujah! Salvation, power, and glory belong to our God: for true and just are his judgments.
For he has condemned the great prostitute, who corrupted the earth with her perversion,
and he has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.”
Again they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke goes up forever and ever.”

Then the angel said to me,
“Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.’”

Responsorial – Psalm 100.1b-2, 3, 4, 5 Resp. Revelation 19.9a

R. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before his presence with singing.

R. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who has made us, and we are his.
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

R. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, and bless his name.

R. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

For the Lord is good.
His loving kindness endures forever,
his faithfulness to all generations.

R. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.

Gospel – Luke 21.20-28

Jesus said to his disciples:
“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand.
Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Let those who are in the midst of her depart.
Let those who are in the country not enter there.
For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days!
For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath on this people.
They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations.
Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars;
and on the earth anxiety of nations, perplexed for the roaring of the sea and the waves,
humans fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world:
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Then they will see the Son of Human coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
But when these things begin to happen, look up, and lift up your heads,
because your redemption is near.”

Reading 1 - Revelation 15.1-4

I, John, saw another great and marvelous sign in heaven:
seven angels with the seven last plagues, for in them God’s wrath is complete.
I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire,
and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name,
stood on the sea of glass, having harps of God.
They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways, O King of the nations.
Who would not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy.
All the races will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Responsorial – Psalm 98.1, 2-3ab, 7-8, 9 Resp. Revelation 15.3b

R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!

Sing to the Lord a new song,
because he has done wonderful things.
His right hand has saved,
and his holy arm.

R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!

The Lord has made known his salvation.
he has revealed his justice in the sight of the nations.
He has remembered his mercy and his fidelity
toward the house of Israel.

R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!

Let the sea roar with its fullness;
the world, and those who dwell therein.
Let the rivers clap their hands.
Let the mountains sing for joy together.

R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!

Let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!

Gospel – Luke 21.12-19

Jesus said to the crowd:
“They will lay their hands on you and persecute you,
delivering you up to synagogues and prisons,
bringing you before kings and governors for the sake of my name.
It will end up with you being witnesses.
Settle it therefore in your hearts not to plan beforehand how to answer,
for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries cannot withstand or contradict.
You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends.
They will cause some of you to be put to death.
You will be hated by all for the sake of my name, but not a hair of your head will perish.
By your endurance you will win your lives.”

Reading 1 – Revelation 14.14-19

I, John, looked, and behold, a white cloud,
and on the cloud, there was one sitting like a son of human,
having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
Another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud,
“Send your sickle, and harvest, for the hour to harvest has come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe!”
He who sat on the cloud thrust his sickle on the earth, and the earth was harvested.

Another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle.
Another angel came out from the altar. He had power over fire.
He called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying,
“Send your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth,
for the earth’s grapes are fully ripe!”
The angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth,
and threw it into the great wine press of the wrath of God.

Responsorial – Psalm 96.10, 11-12, 13 Resp. 13b

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
The world is also established. It cannot be moved.
He will judge the people with equity.

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice.
Let the sea roar, and its fullness!
Let the field and all that is in it exult!
Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

They will rejoice before the Lord; for he comes,
for he comes to rule the earth.
He will rule the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.

R. The Lord comes to rule the earth.

Gospel – Luke 21.5-11

Some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with costly stones and gifts,
so Jesus said,“These things which you behold,
the days are coming when there will not be a stone left on a stone, which will not be thrown down.”

They asked him, saying, “Master, when will this be?
What sign is planned for when these things shall come to pass?”

And he said, “Take heed not to be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am, and the time draws near.’
Do not follow them.
And when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be afraid,
for these things must first come to pass, but it is not immediately the end.”
Then said he to them, “Race shall rise against race, and kingdom against kingdom,
and there will be great earthquakes from place to place, and famines and epidemics;
and there will be horrors and great signs from heaven.”

Reading 1 – Revelation 14.1-3, 4b-5

I, John, saw, and beheld the Lamb standing on Mount Zion,
and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand,
having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.
I heard a sound from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of a great thunder.
The sound which I heard was like that of harpists playing on their harps.
They sing a new hymn before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders.
No one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four thousand,
those who had been redeemed from the earth.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes.
These were redeemed by Jesus from among humans, the first fruits to God and to the Lamb.
In their mouth was found no lie, for they are blameless.

Responsorial - Psalm 24.1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6 Resp. 6

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

The Lord’s is the earth and its fullness,
the world and its inhabitants.
For he founded it upon the seas;
and upon the rivers made it firm.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

Who shall ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who shall stand in his holy place?
He who, with innocent hands and a clean of heart,
has not lifted up his soul to useless things.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord,
and righteousness from God his Savior.
This is the nature of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

Gospel – Luke 21.1-4

And looking on, Jesus saw the rich putting their offerings into the treasury,
and he saw one poor widow putting two pennies in there.
So he said, “Truly I say to you, that the widow-beggar has put in more than all these.
For all these have put in an offering from their abundance
but she, from her lack, has put in all which she had for living.”

Reading 1 – Daniel 7.13-14

I beheld therefore in the vision of the night,
and lo, one like a son of man came
with the clouds of heaven,
and he came even to the Ancient of Days,
and they presented him before him.
He gave him power, and glory, and a kingdom.
All peoples, tribes and tongues shall serve him.
His power is an everlasting power
that shall not be taken away,
and his kingdom shall not be destroyed.

Responsorial – Psalm 93.1ab, 1cd-2, 5 Resp. 1a

R. The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!

The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!
The Lord is robed and armed with strength.

R. The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!

The world he has established.
It cannot be moved.
Your throne is established from long ago.
You are from everlasting, O Lord.

R. The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!

Your statutes are very trustworthy.
Holiness adorns your house,
O Lord, forever more.

R. The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty!

Reading 2 – Revelation 1.5-8

Grace to you and peace from Jesus Christ,
the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and washed us from our sins by his blood;
who made us into a Kingdom, priests for his God and Father,
to him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him.
All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Indeed, Amen.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,
“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Gospel – John 18.33b-37

Pilate called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered him, “Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?”
Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I?
Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?”
Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not of this world.
If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight,
so that I would not be delivered to the Jews.
But now my Kingdom is not from here.”
Pilate therefore said to him, “Are you a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king.
For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world:
that I should testify to the truth.
Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

Reading 1 – Revelation 11.4-12

I, John, heard a voice from heaven speak to me,
“My two witnesses are the two olive trees and the two lampstands,
standing before the Lord of the earth.
If anyone desires to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies.
If anyone desires to harm them, he shall be killed in this way.
They have the power to shut up the sky, so that it may not rain during the days of their prophecy.
They have power over the waters, to turn them into blood,
and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.
When they have finished their testimony,
the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them.
Their dead bodies will be in the street of the great city,
which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
From among the peoples, tribes, languages, and nations,
people will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days,
and will not allow their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb.
Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and they will be glad.
They will give gifts to one another,
because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

After the three and a half days,
the breath of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet.
Great fear fell on those who saw them.
I heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!”
They went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies saw them.

Responsorial – Psalm 144.1b, 2, 9-10 Resp. 1

R. Blessed be the Lord, my rock!

Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle:

R. Blessed be the Lord, my rock!

My loving kindness, my fortress,
my high tower, my deliverer,
my shield, and he in whom I take refuge;
who subdues my people under me.

R. Blessed be the Lord, my rock!

I will sing a new song to you, God.
On a ten-stringed lyre, I will sing praises to you.
You are he who gives salvation to kings,
who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.

R. Blessed be the Lord, my rock!

Gospel – Luke 20.27-40

Some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is any resurrection,
came to Jesus, and they asked him, saying:
“Master, Moses wrote for us: ‘If any man's brother dies, having a wife, and he leaves no children,
his brother should take her as his own wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

There were once seven brothers:
the first took a wife, and died without children.
And the next took her as his wife, and he also died childless.
And the third took her. And in like manner all seven, and they left no children, and died.
Last of all, the woman died also.
In the resurrection therefore, whose wife shall she be? For all the seven had her as wife.”

And Jesus said to them,
“The sons and daughters of this world marry, and are given in marriage,
but those who shall be accounted worthy of that world,
and the resurrection from the dead,
shall neither be married nor take wives.
Nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels,
and are the sons and daughters of God,
being the sons and daughters of the resurrection.

Now, that the dead are raised, even Moses showed,
at the bush, when he called the Lord:
the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
But he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live in him.”
And some of the scribes answering, said to him, “Teacher, you have said this well”,
and after that they did not dare ask him any more questions.

Friday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 – Revelation 10.8-11

I, John, heard a voice from heaven speak to me, saying,
“Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.”
I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book.
He said to me, “Take it and eat it up.
It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.”
I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up.
It was as sweet as honey in my mouth. When I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.
They told me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.”

Responsorial – Psalm 119.14, 24, 72, 103, 111, 131 Resp. 103a

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

I have rejoiced in the way of your covenant,
as much as in all riches.

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

Indeed your statutes are my delight,
and my counselors.

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

The law of your mouth is better to me
than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

How sweet are your promises to my taste,
more than honey to my mouth!

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

I have taken your covenant as a heritage forever,
for it is the joy of my heart.

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

I opened my mouth wide and panted,
for I longed for your commandments.

R. How sweet are your promises to my taste.

Gospel – Luke 19.45-48

Jesus went into the temple,
and began to cast out the merchants,
saying to them, “It is written,
My house is the house of prayer,
but you have made it a den of robbers.”

He taught daily in the temple,
The chief priests and the scribes
and the leaders of the people sought to destroy him,
but they were not finding anyway they could act,
for the whole people, listening, clung to him.

Masses in Thanksgiving to God

Reading 1 – 1 Kings 8.55-61

King Solomon stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised.
Not a single word has failed of all his good promise which he promised by Moses his servant.
May the Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers.
Let him not leave us or forsake us, that he may incline our hearts to him,
to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his ordinances,
which he commanded our fathers.
Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before the Lord,
be near to the Lord our God day and night,
that he may maintain the cause of his servant,
and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires,
that all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and there is no other.
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God,
to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as on this day.”

or Sirach 50.22-24

Bless, now the God of all; across the earth is his wondrous power,
the God who has increased our days from our mother's womb, and has acted mercifully to us.
May he grant us joyfulness of heart, and peace in our days in Israel forever,
that Israel may have faith that the mercy of God is with us, to deliver us in his days.

or Isaiah 63.7-9

I will tell of the loving kindnesses of the Lord and the praiseworthy acts of the Lord,
according to all that the Lord has given to us, and his great goodness toward the house of Israel,
He has given to them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.
For he said, “Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely”, so he became their savior.
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the messenger of his presence saved them.
In his love and in his pity he redeemed them.
He bore them and carried them all the days of old.

or Zephaniah 3.14-15

Sing, daughter of Zion!
Shout, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem.
The Lord has taken away your punishment.
He has thrown out your enemy.

slow to anger, and of great loving kindness.
The Lord is good to all.

R. Lord, I will bless your name forever.

Reading 2 – 1 Corinthians 1.3-9

Brothers and sisters:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I give thanks to my God always concerning you, for the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus,
that in everything you are enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge.
Just as the martyrdom of Christ was established in you.
Therefore you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who will also establish you until the end, blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is the God through whom you were called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.

or Ephesians 1.3-14

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world,
that we would be holy and without defect before him.
In love, having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his desire, to the praise of the glory of his grace,
by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved,
in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to the riches of his grace, which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,
making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure
which he purposed in him to an administration of the fullness of the times,
to sum up in Christ all things in the heavens and on the earth.

In him we were foreordained according to the purpose
of him who does all things after the counsel of his will;
to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory,
we who had before hoped in Christ.
In whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,
having also believed in him,
were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is a pledge of our inheritance,
to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

or Colossians 3.12-17

Brothers and sisters:
Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,
a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if anyone has a complaint against another.
even as the Lord forgave you, so must you also do.

Above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body.
And be thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly;
teaching in all wisdom and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs,
singing with gratitude in your heart to the Lord.
Whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father, through him.

Gospel – Matthew 7.7-11

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Ask, and it will be given to you.
Seek, and you will find.
Knock, and it will be opened for you.
For everyone who asks receives.
They who seek, find.
To the one who knocks, it will be opened.

Who is there among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
If you then, being perverse, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

or Matthew 11.25-30

At that time, Jesus answered,
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.
Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.

All things have been delivered to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son, except the Father;
nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart,
and you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

or Mark 5.18-20

As Jesus was entering into the boat,
he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.
He did not allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your own,
and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.”
He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis
that Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled.

or Luke 1.39-55

Mary arose in those days
and went into the hill country with haste,
into a town of Judah,
and entered into the house of Zachariah
and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the baby leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
She called out with a loud voice, and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Why am I so favored,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For behold, when the voice of your greeting
came to my ears,
the baby leaped in my womb for joy!
Blessed is she who believed,
that there will be a fulfillment of the things
which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”

Mary said:
“My soul magnifies the Lord.
My spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked at the
humble state of his handmaid.
For behold, from now on,
all generations will call me blessed.
For the Almighty has done great things for me.
Holy is his name.
His mercy is for generations of generations
for those who fear him.
He has shown strength with his arm.
He has scattered the proud
in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down princes from their thrones.
And has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things.
He has sent the rich away empty.
He has given help to Israel, his servant,
remembering his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and his offspring forever.”

or Luke 10.17-24

The seventy returned with joy, saying,
“Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
He said to them, “I saw Satan falling like lightning from heaven.
Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you.
Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits are subject to you,
but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
"I confess you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding
and revealed them to little children.
Yes, Father, for so it became benevolent in your sight.

All things have been handed to me by my Father,
and no one knows who the Son is if not the Father,
or who the Father is if not the Son
and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Then turning to the disciples, he spoke just to them:
"Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!
For I tell you that many prophets and kings
desired to see what you see, and did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

or Luke 17.11-19

On his way to Jerusalem, Jesus was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee.
As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him.
Standing at a distance, they lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.”
As they went, they were cleansed.

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.
He fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. He was a Samaritan.
Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?
Was no one found to return to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”
Then he said to him, “Get up, and go your way. Your faith has saved you.”

or John 15.9-17

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loved me, I also loved you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love;
even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.
I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be complete.
This is my commandment: that you love one another, even as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this: that someone lay down their life for their friends.

You are my friends, if you do what I command you.
No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what their Lord does.
But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you,
that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain;
so that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
I command these things to you, so that you will love one another.”

or John 16.20-22

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice.
You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
A woman, while in labor, has sorrow, because her time has come.
But when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish anymore,
for the joy that a human is born into the world.
Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again,
and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.”

Reading 1 - Revelation 4.1-11

I, John, looked and saw a door opened in heaven,
and the prior voice that I had heard, like a trumpet speaking with me, was one saying,
“Come up here, and I will show you the things which must happen after this.”
Immediately I was in the Spirit.

Behold, there was a throne set in heaven,
and one sitting on the throne that looked like jasper and carnelian.
There was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald to look at.
Around the throne were twenty-four thrones.
On the thrones were twenty-four elders sitting, dressed in white garments,
with crowns of gold on their heads.
Out of the throne came flashes of lightning, noises, and thunder.
There were seven lamps of fire burning before his throne,
which are the seven Spirits of God.
Before the throne was something like a sea of glass, similar to crystal.

In the middle of the throne, and around the throne
were four living creatures full of eyes, front and back.
The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf,
and the third creature had a face like a man, and the fourth was like a flying eagle.
The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes inside and out.
They have no rest day and night, saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and who is and who is to come!”
When the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne,
to him who lives forever and ever,
the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne,
and worship him who lives forever and ever, and throw their crowns before the throne, saying,
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory, honor, and power,
for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!”

Responsorial – Psalm 150.1b-2, 3-4, 5-6 Resp. Revelation 4.8

R. Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Praise the Lord in his sanctuary!
Praise him in his heavens for his acts of power!
Praise him for his mighty acts!
Praise him according to his excellent greatness!

R. Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet!
Praise him with harp and lyre!
Praise him with tambourine and dancing!
Praise him with stringed instruments and flute!

R. Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Praise him with loud cymbals!
Praise him with resounding cymbals!
Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord! Alleluia!

R. Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty!

Gospel – Luke 19.11-28

And as they heard these things,
Jesus added and spoke a parable, because he was near Jerusalem
and because they thought that the kingdom of God would immediately appear.

So he said,
“A certain nobleman went into a far country
to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.
And he called ten of his servants, and entrusted to them ten minas,
and said to them, ‘Be busy until I come back.”
But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him,
saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

It came to pass, that when he had returned, having received the kingdom,
he commanded these servants to whom he had given the money,
to be called to him,
so that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten mina.
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant.
Because you have been faithful in a very little,
have authority over ten cities.’
And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has gained five mina.’
And he likewise said to him, ‘You will be over five cities.’

Another came, saying, ‘Master, behold, here is your mina,
which I have kept laid up in a napkin.
because I feared you, for you are a severe man.
You take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.’
And he said to him,
‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant.
You knew that I was a severe man,
taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow.
Why then did you not give my money to the bank,
so that at my coming I might have had mine plus interest?’

And he said to those who stood by,
‘Take from him the mina, and give it to him who has ten minas.’
And they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’

‘I say unto you that everyone who has shall be given to,
and even what they have shall be taken away from them who do not have.’
But as for those enemies of mine,
who did not wish that I should reign over them,
bring them here and slay them before me.’”

And when he had thus spoken,
he led the way, ascending up to Jerusalem.

Reading 1 – Revelation 3.1-6, 14-22

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write:
“He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars says these things:
“I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
Wake up, and keep the things that remain, which you were about to throw away,
for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God.
Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it, and repent.
If therefore you will not watch, I will come as a thief,
and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that did not defile their garments.
They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments,
and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life,
and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Head of God’s creation, says these things:
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.
Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;’
and do not know that you are the wretched one, miserable, poor, blind, and naked;
I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments,
that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed;
and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.
As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.
He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne,
as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Responsorial – Psalm 15.2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5 Resp. Revelation 3.21

R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right,
and speaks truth in his heart;
and does not slander with his tongue,

R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.

He who does no evil to his friend,
nor casts slurs against his fellow human;
in whose eyes a vile man is despised,
but who honors those who fear the Lord.

R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.

He who does not lend out his money for usury,
nor takes a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things
shall never be shaken.

R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.

Gospel – Luke 19.1-10

Jesus entered Jericho to pass through.
And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector, and he was rich.
And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was short.
So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him,
and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
And he made haste and came down and received him joyfully.

But when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He went to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor,
and if I have taken anything from anyone falsely, I will give it back fourfold.
And Jesus said to him, “This day salvation has come to this house, for he also is a son of Abraham.”
For the Son of Human has come to seek and to save what was lost.

Reading 1 – Revelation 1.1-4; 2.1-5

The revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon happen,
which he sent and made known by his angel to his servant, John,
who testified to God’s word and to the testimony of Jesus Christ,
concerning everything that he saw.
Blessed is the one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy,
and keep to the things that are written in it, for the time is at hand.

John, to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from God, who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne.

I hear the Lord saying to me:
“To the messenger of the Church in Ephesus write:
He who holds the seven stars in his right hand,
he who walks among the seven golden lampstands says these things:
‘I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate the wicked,
and have tested those who call themselves apostles though they are not, and found them false.
You have perseverance and have endured for my name’s sake, and have not grown weary.
But I hold this against you: that you lost the love which you had at first.
Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do as at first,
or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

Responsorial – Psalm 1.1-2, 3, 4+6 Resp. Revelation 2.17

R. I will feed the victors from the tree of life.

Blessed is the man who does not walk
in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand on the sinners’ path,
nor sit in the scoffers’ seat,
but whose delight is in the Lord’s law.
On his law he meditates day and night.

R. I will feed the victors from the tree of life.

He will be like a tree
planted by the streams of water,
that produces its fruit in its season,
whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does shall prosper.

R. I will feed the victors from the tree of life.

The wicked are not so,
but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
For the Lord watches the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked shall perish.

R. I will feed the victors from the tree of life.

Gospel – Luke 18.35-43

And it came to pass, as Jesus was coming close to Jericho,
that a blind man sat by the road begging.
Hearing the crowd pass by, he asked what it meant,
and they reported to him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He cried, saying, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.”
And those who led the way shushed him, so that he would be silent,
but he cried so much the more,
“Son of David, have mercy on me.”

Jesus stopped and insisted that he be brought to him.
When he had come near, he asked him, saying,
“What do you wish that I will do for you?”
He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”
Jesus said to him, “See again; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he saw again, and followed him, glorifying God.
And all the people seeing gave praise to God.

Reading 1 – Daniel 12.1-3

In those days, I, Daniel, heard this word of the Lord:
“At that time Michael, the great prince who guards the children of your people, shall arise,
and there shall be a time of trouble,
such as never was since there was a nation until that time,
and at that time your people shall be delivered,
everyone who shall be found written in the book.

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the sky,
and those who turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.

Responsorial – Psalm 16.5, 8, 9-10, 11 Resp. 1

R. O Lord, you are my inheritance.

The Lord assigned my portion and my cup.
You made my lot secure.
I have set the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

R. O Lord, you are my inheritance.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices.
My body shall also dwell in safety.
For you will not leave my soul in Sheol,
nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption.

R. O Lord, you are my inheritance.

You will show me the path of life.
In your presence is fullness of joy.
In your right hand there are delights forevermore.

R. O Lord, you are my inheritance.

Reading 2 – Hebrews 10.11-14, 18

Brothers and sisters:
Every priest stands day by day serving
and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,
but this one, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down at the right hand of God.
From that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet,
for by one offering he has forever perfected those who are being sanctified.
Now where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Gospel – Mark 13.24-32

Jesus said to his disciples:
In those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light,
the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
Then they will see the Son of Human coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Then he will send out his angels, and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds,
from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.

Now from the fig tree, learn this parable:
when the branch has become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near,
even so, when you see these things coming to pass, know that it is near, at the gates.
Amen I say to you, this kind will not pass away until all these things happen.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
But of that day or that hour no one knows,
not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Reading 1 – 3 John 1.5-8

Beloved, faithfully you do those works which are done for brothers and sisters and strangers.
They have testified about your love before the Church.
You will do well to send them on their journey in a way worthy of God,
because they have gone out for the sake of the Name, taking nothing from the Gentiles.
We therefore ought to take care of such as these, that we may be coworkers in the truth.

Responsorial – Psalm 112.1-2, 3-4, 5-6 R. 1a

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who delights greatly in his commandments.
His seed will be mighty in the land.
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

Wealth and riches are in his house.
His righteousness endures forever.
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright,
gracious, merciful, and righteous.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment.
For he will never be shaken.
The righteous will be remembered forever.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

Gospel – Luke 18.1-8

Jesus told a parable to his disciples,
that they ought always to pray and not lose heart, saying:
“There was a judge in a certain city, who neither feared God nor regarded human.
And there was a certain widow in that city, and she came to him, saying,
‘Give me justice from my adversary.’
And he would not for a long time, but afterwards he said within himself,
‘Although I neither fear God nor regard human,
yet because this widow is troublesome to me, I will give her justice,
so that her coming does not wear me out in the end.’”

The Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge says.
Will not God give justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night?
Will he be long-suffering over them?
I say to you, that he will quickly give them justice.
Yet the Son of Human, when he comes, will he find faith on earth?

Reading 1 – 2 John 1.4-9

Chosen Lady,
I rejoice greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth,
as we have been commanded by the Father.
Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment,
but that which we had from the beginning: let us love one another.
This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments.
This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world.
Those who do not confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
Watch yourselves, lest we lose what we have accomplished rather than receive a full reward.
Whoever transgresses and does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God.
They who remain in the teaching have both the Father and the Son.

Responsorial – Psalm 119.1, 2, 10, 11, 17, 18 Resp. 1b

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the Lord.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

Blessed are those who keep his statutes,
who seek him with their whole heart.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

With my whole heart, I have sought you.
Do not let me wander from your commandments.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

Do good to your servant. I will live,
and I will obey your word.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

Open my eyes, that I may see
the wonders from your law.

R. Blessed are those who walk according to the Lord’s law.

Gospel – Luke 17.26-37

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As it came to pass in the days of Noah, so it will also be in the days of the Son of human:
They ate; they drank; they married; they were given in marriage,
until the day that Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Likewise it came to pass, in the days of Lot:
They ate; they drank; they bought; they sold; they planted; they built.
Then on the day Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Accordingly, it will be so on the day when the Son of human is revealed.
On that day, there will be someone on the house and their goods in the house.
Let them not go down to get them.
And it is the same with someone in the field: they should not turn around to go back.
Remember Lot's wife!
If someone seeks to preserve their life, they will lose it, and anyone who loses it will produce it.

I say to you, on that night there shall be two upon one bed:
the one guy will be taken, and the other guy will be left.
Two will be together grinding grains:
the one lady will be taken and the other lady will be left.”
And answering they said to him: “Where, Lord?”
And he said to them, “Wherever the body is, the vultures gather there.”

Reading 1 – Philemon 1.7-20

Beloved:
I have much joy and encouragement in your love,
because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother.
Therefore though I have all boldness in Christ to command you to do what is proper,
yet for love’s sake I rather beg, being as I am, Paul the elder, but now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
I beg you for my child, whom I have become the father of in my chains, Onesimus,
who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.
I am sending him back, sending my own heart.
I desired to keep him with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Gospel,
but I was willing to do nothing without your consent,
that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while, that you would have him forever,
no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother,
especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
But if he has wronged you at all, or owes you anything, put that to my account.
I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I WILL REPAY IT.
Not to mention that you owe me even your own self besides.
Yes, brother, I will have profit from you in the Lord.
Refresh my heart in Christ.

Responsorial - Psalm 146.7, 8-9a, 9bc-10 Resp. 5a

R. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help. or R. Alleluia.

The Lord executes justice for the oppressed.
He gives food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.

R. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help. or R. Alleluia.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord raises up those who are bowed down.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord protects immigrants.

R. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help. or R. Alleluia.

He upholds the fatherless and widow,
but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
The Lord will reign forever;
Your God, O Zion, for all generations. Alleluia.

R. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help. or R. Alleluia.

Gospel – Luke 17.20-25

Being asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come,
Jesus answered them, and said:
“The Kingdom of God does not come with observation.
Nor will it be announced:
“Behold here it is” or “Behold there it is”.
For the Kingdom of God is existing within you.

And he said to his disciples,
“The days will come when you will desire to see one day of the Son of Human but you shall not see it.
And they will say to you, “Behold, he is there” and “Behold, he is here.”
Do not go away with them. Do not follow them.
For as the lightning strikes, lighting up the sky from one part to the other,
so shall the Son of Human be in his day.
But first he must suffer many things, and be rejected by this kind.

Reading 1 – Titus 3.1-7

Beloved:
Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities,
to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
to speak evil of no one, nor be contentious,
to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men.
For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving various passions and pleasures,
living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for humans appeared,
not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves,
but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior;
that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Responsorial - Psalm 23.1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6 Resp. 1

R. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He has me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He leads me in the paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff –
they comfort me.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

You prepare a table before me,
in the presence of my foes.
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

R. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Gospel – Luke 17.11-19

Reading 1 – Titus 2.1-8, 11-14

Beloved:
Say what is consistent with sound doctrine:
that older men should be temperate, sensible, sober minded,
sound in faith, in love, and in patience,
and that older women likewise be reverent in behavior,
not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good,
that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
to be sober minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their husbands,
so that God’s word may not be blasphemed.
Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober minded;
in all things showing yourself an example of good works;
in your teaching showing integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility,
and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned,
so that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having nothing evil thing to say about us.

The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all humans,
instructing us for the purpose that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we shall live soberly, righteously, and godly in this age;
looking for the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify for himself a people for his own possession,
zealous to do good.

Responsorial – Psalm 37.3-4, 18+23, 27-29 Resp. 39a

R. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.

Trust in the Lord, and do good.
Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

R. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.

Commit your way to the Lord.
Trust also in him, and he will do this:
he will make your righteousness come out as the light,
and your justice as the noon day sun.

R. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.

Depart from evil, and do good.
Live securely forever.
For the Lord loves justice,
and does not forsake his saints, preserving them forever.
The unjust are punished,
and the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

R. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.
He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
The Lord helps them, and rescues them.
He rescues them from the wicked, and saves them,
Because they have taken refuge in him.

R. The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.

Gospel - Luke 17:7-10

Jesus said to the Apostles:
Which one of you having a slave plowing, or feeding cattle,
when he comes in from the field, says to him, “Come here right now and sit down”?
Do you not say to him, “Prepare the meal, and put on your apron,
and serve me, while I eat and drink and afterward you may eat and drink”?
And you do not thank the slave because he did what you commanded, do you?

So you also, when you have done all that you are commanded, say,
“We are unprofitable slaves; what we have done, we were obligated to do.”

Reading 1 – Titus 1.1-9

Paul, a slave of God and Apostle of Jesus Christ,
according to the faith of God’s chosen ones,
and the knowledge of the religious truthin hope of eternal life,
which the undeceitful God promised before time began;
but in his own time revealed his word in the message
with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

to Titus, my true child according to a common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

I left you in Crete for this reason:
that you would set in order the things that were lacking,
and appoint presbyters in every city, as I directed you,
if anyone is blameless, a one-woman man,
having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.

For the bishop must be blameless, as God’s steward,
not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent,
not greedy for dishonest gain, but given to hospitality,
a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,
holding to the true message as taught,
that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine,
and to convict those who contradict him.

Responsorial - Psalm 24.1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6

R. Lord, this is the people that seeks your face.

The Lord’s is the earth and its fullness,
the world and its inhabitants.
For he founded it upon the seas;
and upon the rivers made it firm.

Gospel - Luke 17.1-6

Jesus said to his disciples:
“It is impossible that scandals should not come:
but woe to him through whom they do come.
It would be better for him if a stone were hung around his neck
and he were cast into the sea,
than that he would scandalize one of these little ones.

Watch yourselves!
If your brother or sister sins against you,
reprove them: and if they reconsider, forgive them.
And if they sin against you seven times a day,
and seven times turn to you,
saying, “I have reconsidered”, forgive them.”

And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith”,
and the Lord said,
“If you had faith like a mustard seed,
you might say to this mulberry tree,
‘be rooted up, and be transplanted into the sea’
and it would obey you.”

Reading 1 – 1 Kings 17.10-16

In those days, Elijah the prophet arose and went to Zarephath;
and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks:
and he called to her, and said, “Please get me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”
As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”

She said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have a thing baked,
but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jug.
Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son,
that we may eat it, and die.”

Elijah said to her, “Do not be afraid. Go and do as you have said;
but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me,
and afterward make some for you and for your son.
For the Lord, the God of Israel says,
‘The jar of meal shall not empty, nor shall the jug of oil fail,
until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”
She went and did as Elijah had said,
and she, and he, and her house, ate many days.
The jar of meal did not empty, nor did the jug of oil fail,
according to the Lord’s word, which he spoke through Elijah.

Responsorial – Psalm 146.7, 8-9, 9-10 Resp. 1b

R. Praise the Lord, O my soul! or R. Alleluia.

The God of Jacob is true forever.
He executes justice for the oppressed.
He gives food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.

R. Praise the Lord, O my soul! or R. Alleluia.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord raises up those who are bowed down.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord protects immigrants.

R. Praise the Lord, O my soul! or R. Alleluia.

He upholds the fatherless and widow,
but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
The Lord will reign forever;
Your God, O Zion, for all generations. Alleluia.

R. Praise the Lord, O my soul! or R. Alleluia.

Reading 2 – Hebrews 9.24-28

Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made with hands, which are copies of the true one,
but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.
Not that he would offer himself repeatedly,
as the high priest enters into the sanctuary year after year with blood that is not his own,
else he would have had to suffer repeatedly from the foundation of the world.
But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to take away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Inasmuch as it is appointed for humans to die once, and after this, there is judgment,
so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,
will appear a second time, without sin, for salvation to those who are eagerly awaiting him.

Gospel – Mark 12.38-44

Jesus, in his teaching, said, “Beware of the scribes,
who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,
and the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts:
who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers.
They will receive greater condemnation.”

He sat down opposite the treasury, and saw how the crowd put money into the treasury.
Many who were rich put in a lot.
A poor widow came, and she put in two pennies [lepta] which equal a dollar [kodrantes]
He called his disciples to himself, and said to them, “Amen I say to you,
this poor widow gave more than all those who are giving into the treasury,
for they all gave out of their abundance,
but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had, her whole living.”

Reading 1 – Philippians 4.10-19

Brothers and sisters:
I rejoice in the Lord greatly,
that now at length you have revived your concern for me.
You were indeed concerned, but you lacked opportunity.
Not that I say this because of need,
for I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.
I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to have an abundance.
In everything and in all things,
I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
However you did well to share in my affliction.

You Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the Gospel,
when I departed from Macedonia,
no Church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.
For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need.
Not that I seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to your account.
But I have all things, and abound. I am filled,
having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you,
a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.
My God will supply every need of yours according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Responsorial – Psalm 112.1b-2, 5-6, 8a+9 Resp. 1b

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who delights greatly in his commandments.
His seed will be mighty in the land.
The generation of the upright will be blessed.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

It goes well for the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment.
For he will never be shaken.
The righteous will be remembered forever.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

His heart is established; he will not be afraid.
He has dispersed, he has given to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.
His horn will be exalted with honor.

R. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. or R. Alleluia!

Gospel - Luke 16.9-15

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I say to you: Make friends for yourselves with the Mammon of injustice,
so that when it is eclipsed, they will accept you into eternal dwellings.

The faithful one in little things is also faithful in great things.
and the unjust one in little things, is also unjust in great things.

If then you have not become faithful in the unjust Mammon,
who will trust you with what is true?
And if you have not become faithful in what is another's,
who will give you what is your own?

No housekeeper can serve two lords:
for either they will hate one and love the other,
or attend to one and neglect the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon."

Hearing this, the Pharisees who really were money-lovers derided him.
And he said to them,
“You are justifying yourselves in the sight of humans, but God knows your hearts,
for that which is high among humans is an abomination in the sight of God.”

Reading 1 - Ezekiel 47:1-2,8-9,12

The angel brought me back to the gate of the temple,
and behold waters flowed out
from under the threshold of the temple toward the east
(for the front of the house looked toward the east),
but the waters came down to the south side of the temple
to the south part of the altar.

And he led me out by the way of the north gate,
and he took me to the outward gate
which looked toward the east,
and behold water was trickling out on the south side.

And he said to me,
“These waters flow toward the east
and go down to the Arabah,
and go into the sea.
Where it enters the sea, the water will be fresh,
and every living creature whatsoever that crawls
will live wherever the river goes
and there shall be abundant fish.
Where this river goes, the water will become fresh,
and all things shall live.

And by the river, on its banks,
on both sides
all fruit-bearing trees will grow.
Their leaf shall not fall off, and their fruit shall not fail.
Every month they will bring forth fruit,
because they will be watered from the flow out of the sanctuary,
and their fruit shall be for food, and their leaves for medicine.

Responsorial - Psalm 46:2-3,5-6,8-9

R. The stream of the river makes the city of God joyful, the most High has sanctified his own dwelling.

Our God is our refuge and strength,
a helper in troubles, which have found us exceedingly.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth quakes,
and the mountains fall into the depths of the sea.

R. The stream of the river makes the city of God joyful, the most High has sanctified his own dwelling.

The stream of the river makes the city of God joyful,
the most High has sanctified his own dwelling.
God is in the midst of it; it shall not be disturbed.
God will help it in the early morning.

R. The stream of the river makes the city of God joyful, the most High has sanctified his own dwelling.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our protector.
Come and behold the works of the Lord,
the wonders he has done upon earth,

R. The stream of the river makes the city of God joyful, the most High has sanctified his own dwelling.

Reading 2 – 1 Corinthians 3:9c-11, 16-17

Brothers and Sisters:
You are God's building.
According to the grace of God given to me,
as a wise architect,
I have laid the foundation;
and another builds on it,
but let everyone take heed how he builds on it.
For no one can lay another foundation ,
than that which has been laid,
which is Christ Jesus.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you ?
if anyone destroys the temple of God,
God will destroy them.
For holy is the temple of God, which you are.

Gospel - John 2.13-22

The Passover of the Jews was near,
and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found, sitting in the temple,
the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves and the moneychangers.
So when he had made a whip out of cords,
he drove them all out of the temple,
including the sheep and the oxen,
and he poured out the moneychangers’ money,
and he overturned the tables.
And to those who sold doves he said,
“Take these things out of here,
and do not make the house of my Father a house of a bazaar.”
His disciples remembered that it was written,
“The zeal for your house has consumed me.”

The Jews, therefore, answered, and said to him,
“What sign do you show us, since you do these things?”
Jesus answered, and said to them,
“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
Then the Jews said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple,
and you will raise it up in three days?
But he spoke of the temple of his body.

Therefore when he was risen from the dead,
his disciples remembered that he had said this,
and they believed the Scripture
and the word that Jesus had said.

Reading 1 – Philippians 3.3-8a

Brothers and sisters:
We are the circumcision, we who worship God in the Spirit,
and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh.
If any other man thinks that he has confidence in the flesh, I have yet more:
circumcised on the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews;
concerning the law: a Pharisee;
concerning zeal: persecuting the Church;
concerning the righteousness according to the law: blameless.

But I consider those things that were gain for me as a loss because of Christ.
Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss
because of the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord.

Responsorial – Psalm 105.2-3, 4-5, 6-7 Resp. 3b

R. Rejoice, O hearts of those who seek the Lord. or R. Alleluia

Sing to him, sing praises to him!
Tell of all his marvelous works.
Glory in his holy name.
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

R. Rejoice, O hearts of those who seek the Lord. or R. Alleluia

Seek the Lord and his strength.
Seek his face forever more.
Remember his marvelous works that he has done;
his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,

R. Rejoice, O hearts of those who seek the Lord. or R. Alleluia

You offspring of Abraham, his servant,
you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the Lord, our God.
His judgments prevail in all the earth.

R. Rejoice, O hearts of those who seek the Lord. or R. Alleluia

Gospel - Luke 15.1-10

Now the tax collectors and sinners, draw near to Jesus, heard him,
and the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”

So he told them this parable, saying:
Which of you humans, having one hundred sheep, and losing one of them,
would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness,
and go after that the lost one until you find it,
and when you find it, put it on your shoulders, rejoicing,
and, coming home, call together your friends and neighbors,
saying to them, “Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep”?

I say to you that, just so, there shall be more joy in heaven for one sinner who reconsiders,
than for ninety-nine righteous ones who have no use for reconsideration.

Or which woman, having ten dollars [drachmas], if she were to lose one dollar,
would not light a lamp and search the house and look carefully until she found it,
and, having found it, call together her friends and neighbors, saying,
“Rejoice with me, because I have found the dollar which I lost.”

Just so, I say to you, there will be joy in the sight of the angels of God upon one sinner reconsidering.

Reading 1 – Philippians 2.12-18

My beloved, even as you have always obeyed,
not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence,
work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work, for his good purpose.
Do all things without murmurings and disputes,
that you may become blameless and harmless,
children of God, faultless in the midst of a crooked and warped kind,
among whom you are seen as lights in the world, holding up the word of life;
that I may have something to boast on the day of Christ,
that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
Even if I am poured out as a libation upon the sacrifice and offering of your faith,
I rejoice, and rejoice with all of you.
In the same way, you also rejoice, and rejoice with me.

Responsorial – Psalm 27.1, 4, 13-14 Resp. 1a

R. The LORD is my light and my salvation.

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

R. The LORD is my light and my salvation.

One thing have I desired of the LORD,
this will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD,
and to study in his temple.

R. The LORD is my light and my salvation.

I believe that I will see the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be of good courage.
He will strengthen your heart. Wait for the LORD.

R. The LORD is my light and my salvation.

Gospel – Luke 14.25-33

Huge crowds were going along with Jesus.
He turned and said to them,
“If anyone comes to me, and does not hate their own father and mother
and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even their own soul also,
they cannot be my disciple.
Whoever does not bear their own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost,
to see if they have enough to complete it?
Otherwise, when they have laid a foundation, and is not able to finish,
everyone who sees begins to mock them, saying,
‘This human began to build, and was not able to finish.’
Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war,
will not sit down first and consider whether he is able
with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
If not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for terms of peace.
So therefore any of you who does not renounce all that they have cannot be my disciple.

Reading 1 – Philippians 2.5-11

Brothers and sisters:
Have among yourselves the same attitude
that is also yours in Christ Jesus,
who, though existing in the form of God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave,
being made in the likeness of humans.
And being found in human form,
he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death,
yes, the death of the cross.

Therefore God also highly exalted him,
and gave to him the name which is above every name;
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the glory of God the Father.

Responsorial – Psalm 22.26b-27, 28-30ab, 30e, 31-32 Resp. 26a

R. My praise comes from you, Lord, in the great assembly.

I will pay my vows before those who fear the Lord.
The humble shall eat and be satisfied.
They shall praise the Lord who seek after him.
May your hearts live forever.

R. My praise comes from you, Lord, in the great assembly.

All the ends of the earth
shall remember and turn to the Lord.
All the families of the nations
shall worship before you.

R. My praise comes from you, Lord, in the great assembly.

For kingship belongs to the Lord,
and he rules over the nations.
All those shall bow before him,
who go down to the dust.

R. My praise comes from you, Lord, in the great assembly.

To him my soul shall live.
Posterity shall serve him.
Future generations shall be told about the Lord.
They shall declare to a people yet to be born,
his righteousness that he has done.

R. My praise comes from you, Lord, in the great assembly.

Gospel – Luke 14.15-24

When one of those who sat at the table with Jesus heard these things,
he said to him, “Blessed are those who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God!”
But he said to him, “A certain human prepared a great supper, and he invited many people.
He sent out his slave at the supper hour to tell those who were invited,
‘Come, for everything is ready now.’
They all as one began to make excuses.
The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I am going to see it. Please have me excused.’
Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am off to examine them. Please have me excused.’
Another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’
The slave came back to his lord and reported this.
Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his slave,
‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city,
and bring in the beggars, the amputees, the blind, and lame.’
And the slave said, ‘Lord, what you commanded has happened, and there is still space.’
The lord said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges,
and force them to come in, that my house may be filled.
For I say to you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper.’”

Brothers and sisters:
If there is any support in Christ,
if there is any consolation in love,
if there is any communion in the Spirit,
any pity and compassion,
fulfill my joy that you are of the same mind,
having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind,
neither in ambition nor in being conceited, but in humility,
each one holding others above themself,
each one not merely looking to his own things, but also to the things of others.

Responsorial - Psalm 131.1, 2, 3 Response: Ps 31.1a, see John 14.27

R. In you, O Lord, I have your peace.

Lord, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes lofty.
Neither have I walked among the great,
nor among wonderful things above me.

R. In you, O Lord, I have your peace.

Have I not calmed and quieted my soul
Like a child upon his mother?
Like a weaned child
thus is my soul.

R. In you, O Lord, I have your peace.

O Israel, hope in the Lord,
from this moment until forever.

R. In you, O Lord, I have your peace.

Gospel - Luke 14.12-14

When Jesus went into the house of one of the chief of the Pharisees,
on the Sabbath, to eat bread,
he said to the one who had invited him:
When you have a meal or a banquet,
Do not call your friends or your brothers
or your relatives, or your rich neighbors,
lest perhaps they also invite you in return, and you are repaid.

But when you put on a feast,
invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind,
and you shall be blessed, because they do not have the ability to repay you:
for you will be repaid in the resurrection of the just.
