Reading 1 - Revelation 15.1-4
I, John, saw another great and marvelous sign in heaven:
seven angels with the seven last plagues, for in them God’s wrath is complete.
I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire,
and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name,
stood on the sea of glass, having harps of God.
They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are your ways, O King of the nations.
Who would not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy.
All the races will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Responsorial – Psalm 98.1, 2-3ab, 7-8, 9 Resp. Revelation 15.3b
R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
because he has done wonderful things.
His right hand has saved,
and his holy arm.
R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
The Lord has made known his salvation.
he has revealed his justice in the sight of the nations.
He has remembered his mercy and his fidelity
toward the house of Israel.
R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Let the sea roar with its fullness;
the world, and those who dwell therein.
Let the rivers clap their hands.
Let the mountains sing for joy together.
R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.
R. Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty!
Gospel – Luke 21.12-19
Jesus said to the crowd:
“They will lay their hands on you and persecute you,
delivering you up to synagogues and prisons,
bringing you before kings and governors for the sake of my name.
It will end up with you being witnesses.
Settle it therefore in your hearts not to plan beforehand how to answer,
for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries cannot withstand or contradict.
You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends.
They will cause some of you to be put to death.
You will be hated by all for the sake of my name, but not a hair of your head will perish.
By your endurance you will win your lives.”
