Official Translation
Reading 1 - 2 Samuel 6.12b-15, 17-19
David went and brought up
the Ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom
into the city of David with joy.
It took place in this way:
when those who bore the Lord’s Ark
had gone six paces,
he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.
David danced before the Lord with all his might;
clothed in a linen ephod.
So David and all the house of Israel
brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouting,
and with the sound of the trumpet.
They brought in the Ark of the Lord,
and set it in its place,
in the middle of the tent
that David had pitched for it;
and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings
before the Lord.
When David had finished offering
the burnt offering and the peace offerings,
he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of Hosts.
He gave to all the people,
among the whole multitude of Israel,
both men and women, to everyone,
a portion of bread, roast meat, and raisins.
Then all the people departed,
everyone to his house.
Responsorial – Psalm 24.7, 8, 9, 10 Resp. 8
R. Who is the King of glory? The Lord.
Lift up your heads, you gates!
Be lifted up, you everlasting doors,
and the King of glory will come in.
R. Who is the King of glory? The Lord.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
R. Who is the King of glory? The Lord.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
yes, lift them up, you everlasting doors,
and the King of glory will come in.
R. Who is the King of glory? The Lord.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of Hosts is the King of glory!
Gospel – Mark 3.31-35
Jesus’ mother and his brothers came,
and standing outside, they sent for him, calling him.
A multitude was sitting around him,
and they told him,
“Behold, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters
are outside looking for you.”
He answered them,
“Who are my mother and my brothers?”
Looking around at those who sat around him,
he said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers!
For whoever does the will of God,
that one is my brother and sister and mother.”
