Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter

Official Translation

Reading 1 - Acts 13.26-33

When Paul came to Antioch in Pisidia,
he said in the synagogue:
“Brothers,
children of the stock of Abraham,
and those among you who are God-fearers,
the word of this salvation is sent out to you.
For those who dwell in Jerusalem,
and their rulers,
because they did not recognize him,
fulfilled the voices of the prophets
which are read every Sabbath
by condemning him.
Though they found no cause for death,
they still asked Pilate to have him killed.
When they had fulfilled all things
that were written about him,
they took him down from the tree
and laid him in a tomb.

But God raised him from the dead,
and he was seen for many days
by those who came up with him
from Galilee to Jerusalem,
who are his witnesses to the people.
We bring you good news
of the promise made to our fathers,
that God has fulfilled it for us, their children,
in that he raised up Jesus.

As it is also written in the second psalm,
‘You are my Son.
Today I have begotten you.’”

Responsorial – Psalm 2.6-7, 8-9, 10-11ab Resp. 7bc

R. You are my Son; today I have begotten you. or R. Alleluia!

“I have set my King
on my holy mountain of Zion.”
I will tell of the decree of the Lord.
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son.
Today I have begotten you.

R. You are my Son; today I have begotten you. or R. Alleluia!

Ask of me, and I will give you
the nations for your inheritance,
the uttermost ends of the earth for your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron.
You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

R. You are my Son; today I have begotten you. or R. Alleluia!

Now therefore be wise, you kings.
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice before him;
rejoice with trembling.

R. You are my Son; today I have begotten you. or R. Alleluia!

Gospel – John 14.1-6

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Let not your hearts be troubled.
You believe in God.
Believe also in me.
In my Father’s house,
there are many homes.
If it were not so,
I would have told you.
I am going to prepare a place for you.
If I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again,
and will receive you to myself;
that where I am,
you may be there also.
Where I am going you know the way.”

Thomas said to him,
“Lord, we do not know where you are going.
How can we know the way?”

Jesus said to Thomas,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father
except through me.”
